About the Artist

Let's hear it for mountains!

I love mountains. I love ice. I love when they’re together and I love when they're separate (I'm talking volcanically decorated icebergs and the exquisite colours of the bare Rockies). I feel at home sitting at the edge of a serene glacial lagoon thousands of miles away in Iceland, as well as the alpine meadows of Dunn Peak. I grew up in the Thompson Nicola region of the B.C. interior in Canada, and it took a trip to Stewart, B.C, to be slapped in the face with the majesty of the coastal range. I never looked back. All I knew was I needed to recreate this feeling on canvas through paint.

Taking photographs, peeping through binoculars at unreachable peaks, and of course, the essential plein air oil studies, are soul feeding pastimes outside of the studio. While some of my works are based off real mountains or bergs I've visited, some of my works are purely invented; inspired by imaginative shapes from dreams and memory.

I currently reside and work in my studio in British Columbia, Canada.
